Impromptu Party with the Clausers

We were originally supposed to spend Independence Day with Peggy at Oregon Ridge, but none of us bothered to check the website until Monday morning. We then realized that the fireworks had already happened over the weekend. Doh! No ashes falling on our head while the symphony plays this year.
After a short visit with Peggy we decided to tag along and watch the fireworks Clauser style. I threw some watermelon in a container and grabbed the bug spray and a mason jar for fireflies. We took the truck and parked near the fireworks but not too close- we didn't want to get caught in that INSANE traffic afterwards.
While we waited we did poppers, lit glowworms and snakes, and ran around with sparklers. Oh, and we lit some fountains, too! Amanda and I are secretly pyros, I think.
It was great to see the fireflies back after a couple years of hardly ever seeing them. Anna especially caught her fair share. The kids had a good time and were happy to be reunited after camp kept us apart last week. And even Roger was glad we didn't stay home to see the dinky neighborhood displays and go to bed early...
